Veteran's Day

I just got back from running errands and I realized that it has been awhile since I wrote anything about my life. Not that there’s that much to say, but my roommate isn’t here right now to bug me and I am in the mood to update my webpage diary. At Target I bought a box of chocolate covered cherries (those of you who know me remember that they are my absolute favorite) and I have been indulging in them since I got home. Since we don’t have any classes today I am taking the opportunity to relax and get caught up on my studying. I know those sound like two mutually exclusive activities, but studying isn’t that stressful when you aren’t worrying about getting ready for a test the following day. In short I am enjoying my day and I am enjoying the fact that I only have my three classes tomorrow before the weekend.

Last night was the last Alpha Chi Omega date function for the semester and we went to Sleuth’s Mystery Dinner Theater in Orlando. Stuart and I didn’t really know what to expect from the show, but it turned out to be a lot of fun. There were four main characters and the audience members had to figure out who committed the crime (and with what weapon) by asking questions of the characters. Each table got to ask one question, but that didn’t help me figure out what really happened. In the end we narrowed it down to two main suspects, but I picked the wrong one. From what I could tell everyone enjoyed the date function and since it was more original than most other functions there was a certain novelty to it. Maybe whoever was elected as date function chair for next year will come up with some functions equally as different and fun.

I don’t have any plans for the weekend yet. Stu is going backpacking in the panhandle (consequently the same park as I camped in when I was in Girl Scouts) tomorrow and he won’t be back until Sunday evening. I wonder if we are going to have our usual dynamics meeting on Sunday night? Anyway, he isn’t going to be in town and I don’t have anything else to do yet. My grandfather had heart surgery last week and I was wondering if maybe I should go and help out my grandmother this weekend. They live in Tampa so it wouldn’t be a big trip, but I don’t know if I would be more in the way than anything else. I guess I need to ask my dad about that. I do have two homework assignments to do for Monday and a test in intermediate engineering analysis on Thursday. This coming week is the only full week of classes we have in November.

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is only two weeks away. Christmas is almost in full swing already even so and I bought a couple of adorable Christmas ornaments at Target today. I love the holiday season even if it seems to start earlier every year. The most fun is walking through the Christmas tree displays at Wal-Mart. My family sets up our Christmas tree right after Thanksgiving and I look forward to it every year. For some reason I turn out to be the only person who will spend enough time to put all of the ornaments on the tree. Also I am the only one patient enough (although not very) to take them down again in January. That’s just the way it goes. I love Christmas all the same.

I just got off the phone with Stu. I might go over to his apartment tonight to watch a movie, but that is still up in the air. We both are in the middle of the fluid mechanics assignment that is due tomorrow so that needs to get finished first. Doesn’t that sound like fun? First I need to put away the things I bought this afternoon. We got our 1999 Alpha Chi pictures recently and I finally bought another frame for the whole house picture. It’s funny to think that when I graduate I will have five of those things! I also got a pair of pants at Old Navy. A triumph in the clothing department! Stuff like that needs to happen more often. OK, I am going to do some work now (reluctantly).
